Bold Walking Group

Walks are open to all. We usually start around 10am, with a walk of 3-4 miles before lunch in a local pub (12-2pm). After lunch the walk concludes with 2-3 miles, finishing around 3.30pm. Sometimes, we do a slightly longer walk in the morning only finishing with lunch. People who just wish to join us for lunch are also welcome.

Bold Walk – 29th August 2018

Stroll by the Thames and visits to the churches of North and South Stoke

We will meet at 9.45 for a 10 am start at the Perch & Pike pub in South Stoke (RG8 0JS) 01491 972415  Grid Ref:   SU598836.  Although the car park is quite large it would be best to car share as it is quite a popular pub.  Lunch will be served around 12.30 to 1 pm.  Dogs are allowed in the bar area.

The shortest walk will be 4½ miles with only 1 stile and no hills and with the option of visiting the South Stoke church before returning to the pub.  However depending on the weather there is a longer option of returning to South Stoke by the Postman’s Path which would be around 6 miles in total with 130 feet of ascent/descent which gives lovely views of the Chiltern Hills.  No afternoon walk but those who had no opportunity to visit the church of South Stoke in the morning can see it after lunch.
